The 12853 drum assembly is a replacement part for the model number 65 GeneralAire humidifier. This product consists of a plastic drum, covered in an evaporator sleeve.The assembly sits in a water pan (not included), slowly spinning and picking up water, which is turned into humidity and circulated into your home. The drum does not need to be replaced unless there is excessive mineral build-up, or it is damaged, in which case it should be replaced immediately. Production recently changed the evaporator pad color from yellow to black. This was just a color change with no impact on performance.
